Teacher excellence rewarded

The Immanuel community is today celebrating the success of not one, but two inspirational teachers, who have been nominated for a prestigious NEiTA 2012 ASG Inspirational Teaching Award.
Head of Science Wendy Cook and Prep Teacher Leanne Auricht have been recognised as outstanding educators from over 200 000 practising teachers in Australia.
NEiTA (National Excellence in Teaching Awards) is Australia’s only national, independent community centred teaching awards program that gives Australian parents and school communities the opportunity to formally thank their inspirational teachers.
“Outside the family home, a teacher is the greatest influence on a child’s learning and we are honoured that two of our hard working and dedicated teachers have been nominated for this award,” said Principal David Bliss.
“Wendy and Leanne are now eligible to be considered for a state and national award. On behalf of the Immanuel community, I would like to congratulate them both and thank them for their years of dedicated service to our students,” said Mr Bliss.
Leanne Auricht has taught at Immanuel for seventeen years and was part of the College’s second graduating Year 12 class.
Wendy Cook has been at Immanuel for eight years and was last year appointed Head of Science. She, too, is a product of a Lutheran school, having been educated at St Peters Lutheran College in Brisbane.
