Sunshine Coast based SunnyKids received a colourful makeover in five of their emergency accommodation units, as the winner of the CHUX Collections Refresh Your Community with Colour competition.
The not-for-profit organisation supports at-risk children and young people to stay engaged with education and provides crisis accommodation to homeless families seeking solace.
SunnyKids was nominated by CHUX Facebook fan Toni Faint, as the part of her local community she felt most deserved a colour boost.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen as the winner of the CHUX Collections Refresh Your Community with Colour competition,” says Chris Turner, CEO of SunnyKids.
“The homeless families we assist with emergency accommodation are now able to start rebuilding their lives in an environment which feels more like home. The makeover creates a welcoming atmosphere which is supportive and relaxing to those in crisis,” Turner continues.
A team of volunteers, led by leading colour consultant and CHUX CollectionsTM ambassador Chris Brazel, transformed five beige units into colourful and uplifting sanctuaries for their deserving residents – women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence.
“Nothing turns a house into a home like a splash of colour and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a happy home than the families in crisis SunnyKids supports.
“I was delighted to have led a dedicated troupe of volunteers in this wonderful project, brought about by the generosity of CHUX Collections, and hope our colour transformation will help to transform a few frowns into smiles,” says Brazel.
The competition ran on Facebook to celebrate the recent launch of CHUX Collections, a range of brightly coloured cloths and sponge-scourers inspired by the trend of colour matching kitchen appliances and homewares.
“CHUX Collections pieces are an easy and inexpensive way to add a splash of colour to any home. At one end of the spectrum, the blue pieces bring tranquillity and healing, while the purple pieces promote strength and belief,” says Brazel.
Toni Faint’s nomination for SunnyKids was selected by a panel of CHUX Collections judges, based on the quality of her entry and the deservedness of the organisation nominated to receive a colour makeover.
“On behalf of those families, we say thank you to CHUX Collections for your outstanding community support,” Turner concluded.
