The Year 12 Hospitality students at Sunshine Coast Grammar School are preparing to take over the reins at the popular Mooloolaba restaurant Fish on Parkyn for the night, as they host their end-of-year function on Wednesday, October 24.
Restaurant owners, Jon and Sue Koning will daringly hand over control to the students who have been perfecting their skills in all aspects from waiting tables to working behind the bar and are eager to show off these skills.
This evening allows students to demonstrate their practical performance knowledge and understanding in a real world environment to further enhance their experience.
The Year 12 Hospitality students are eager to step into the restaurant but admit that there is a lot of behind the scenes preparation required for the big event.
Students are responsible for all aspects of the event from creating the invitations and designing the menus, to taking bookings, organising uniforms as well as arranging the entertainment for the evening not to mention preparing and serving food and beverages on the night.
A big thank you goes to Jon and Sue Koning for enabling the students to utilise their top class facilities, which provides such a valuable real life experience to help showcase the skills they’ve developed over their two-year course.
