Andrew Powell – State Member for Glass House

Glass House’s Eudlo State School and Palmwoods Kindergarten Association are among those who were successful under the latest round of State Government community funding.
It’s part of millions of dollars provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund.
Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, said the Newman Government recognised the struggle for funding is constant and that it is wonderful to provide much-needed financial support through these grants every few months.
“These groups work tirelessly out in the community and I’m thrilled their work can continue,” Mr Powell said.
Organisations within the Glass House electorate successful in this round were:
  • Eudlo State School, $21 420 to replace the playground
  • Maleny Bowls Club, $30 720 to install lighting on bowling greens
  • Eudlo and District Tennis Association Inc., $35 000 to upgrade court facilities
  • Blackall Range Horseless Carriage Club Inc., $23 610 to install a shed
  • Maleny Table Tennis Club Inc., $4969 to purchase equipment
  • Wamuran and District Men’s Shed Inc., $15 454 to install a solar power system
  • Palmwoods Memorial Hall Association Inc., $20 515 to upgrade facilities
  • Palmwoods Kindergarten Association, $26 181.82 to reroof and insulate verandah
  • Montville State School Parents & Citizens Association, $5575.85 to extend the kitchen garden
  • Sippy Creek Animal Refuge Society Inc., $29 130.91 to purchase a vehicle

Mr Powell said these grants will go a long way helping the community and providing services throughout Glass House.
“These grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations,” he said.
“I encourage all groups in the community to apply for the next round of funding before the end of February 2014.”
