[Video]A Sunshine Coast Council Cultural Heritage initiative celebrating the history and stories of traditional Moffat Beach houses and their families was launched today (Thursday, May 22) at Caloundra Regional Gallery.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the Memorably Moffat project is a documented heritage study about the much-loved beachside fibro residences in and around Moffat Beach.

“These places and the stories of those who lived or holidayed in them help to shape Caloundra’s heritage and community identity, contributing to a sense of belonging and beach lifestyles,” Cr Dwyer said.

“The interiors and important features of the traditional Caloundra beach houses were documented throughout the project.

“The Memorably Moffat project also gathered stories of more than 30 Moffat Beach residents and long-time holiday-makers who are featured in a beautifully compiled film, plus a very special story performance by storyteller extraordinaire Gail Robinson.

“The stories and images collected as part of Memorably Moffat are accessible through Sunshine Coast Libraries website, and the Heritage Library.”

Memorably Moffat is supported through funding from the Australian Government’s Your Community Heritage Program.
