With the idyllic Noosa River as the backdrop and the rhythmic sounds of hot Latin salsa in the air, Sunshine Coast Council’s next Sundayze Series free community event is set to be a crowd pleaser.
Salsa Sounds, the sixth and final event in the Sundayze program of 2011 will be held on the grassed foreshore of the relaxing Noosa River at Noosaville Lions Park on Sunday 23 October from 11am to 2pm.
This free, family-friendly community event has popular Afro-Cuban salsa act Chukale and fiery Latin band Hot Mambo on centre stage.
Eleven-piece Chukale is ready to delivery an energetic and sizzling performance. Chukale has dominated Brisbane’s Afro-Cuban salsa scene over the last few years and is certain to have you up on your feet dancing the afternoon away.
Brisbane based Latin-Jazz band Hot Mambo are the definition of funky salsa. The band plays an infectious, high energy concoction of rhythms from Cuba, Columbia and Brazil. The authentic and passionate salsa tunes celebrate the finest of salsa and jazz music.
Enjoy the delights of the local café scene or pack a picnic and bring a chair, then sit back and enjoy the rhythmic salsa Sunday treat.
The Sundayze Series, is a Sunshine Coast Council initiative that runs once a month from May to October and delivers free individually themed fun and entertaining programs at various locations throughout the region. Check out council’s “What’s On” calendar at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au for further details.
