Ri-con Contractors wins award trifecta

Ryan Vibe, Ri-con’s Safety & Compliance Officer receives HIA Award from Josie Norman, HIA Sunshine Coast/Wide Bay Branch

Local Sunshine Coast based construction company, Ri-con Contractors, has won yet another top gong at the 2012 Housing Industry Association awards, winning Queensland’s Work Health & Safety Award category.
The award comes hot on the heels of two other awards won earlier this year, a Western Australia Master Builders Excellence in Construction Award and a further Western Australia HIA Special Projects Award, making this a trifecta for the company.
The awards held by the HIA, Australia’s peak industry body for residential construction, recognises the achievements, and reward excellence throughout the housing industry. The judges commented that Ri-con Contractors “showed an outstanding commitment to safety and the systems they have in place are ideal for their industry”.
In congratulating the winners, HIA Branch Manager for the Sunshine Coast, Stuart Collins said “It is difficult enough selecting finalists let alone winners, such is the high calibre of the entries received in 2012. This healthy level of competition ensures that new standards in design, workmanship and innovation are achieved across all award categories”.
Ryan Vibe, Safety & Compliance Officer for Ri-con accepted the award and said that he was “honoured that his company has been recognised for their hard work and commitment to safety in the construction industry – the true award also being our team returning home without harm’”.
Ri-con reached an important milestone for the company earlier this year with the achievement of their Federal Safety Accreditation. Managing Director, John Jenkins commented that “as a team, we are proud of our safe working history and safety performance. This achievement, to focus on safety as a critical and core element of our commitment to remote construction, has also opened up new opportunities across remote Australia”.
Ri-con’s philosophy of ‘making safety personal’ for construction workplace safety has been proactively taken on-board in leaps and bounds, with the unlimited support and determination of the entire company.
The Housing Industry Association Awards highlight and reward excellence throughout the housing industry, representing the finest tradespeople and their businesses throughout Australia.
