Premier Has A Rethink On Contentious Policies

21st Jul, 2014 by Charles Hodgson View News

In the wake of a devastating result in the Stafford by-election the Premier today announced changes to key policies.
Premier Campbell Newman outlines Cabinet’s decision to reverse some of the actions taken by the Government.
They include reinstating the requirement for bipartisan support for the Crime and Corruption Commission chair, a return to the old Estimates Hearings system, and changes to the imprisonment conditions for members of criminal organisations.
The Premier also commits to meeting with the legal profession and judiciary to repair the relationship and explains the reasons for sticking with the program to repair the state finances.
