Sunshine Coast Council presents Morocco: A Creative Journey exhibition at Cooroy’s Butter Factory Arts Centre from 6 December 2012 to 26 January 2013.
Inspired by the deep cultural history, rich architectural traditions and wildly varied landscapes from Marrakesh to the Moroccan Sahara, this exhibition of two and three dimensional artworks reflects the creative responses of a group of Queensland artists who recently journeyed this ancient trade route.
Diverse artistic interpretations have evolved from the artists’ experiences of this land and its exotic blend of Arabic, Spanish and African influences.
Art enthusiasts are invited to attend the official opening of Morocco: A Creative Journey at 6pm on Friday 7 December.
The following exciting series of Moroccan themed public programs complement the exhibition:
|Meet the artists||Saturday 8 December||2pm|
|Exhibition guided tour and morning tea||Friday 14 December||10am|
|Moroccan ceramic design workshop||Saturday 15 December||1pm|
Bookings are essential by visiting council’s gallery website or by calling the gallery on 5454 9050.
The Butter Factory Arts Centre is located at 10 Maple Street, Cooroy and is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
