The new landmark Maroochydore Homemaker Centre has now opened its doors to shoppers on the Sunshine Coast.
The region’s newest retail destination opened for trading on Monday 12th November and will host a day of opening celebrations on Saturday 17th November.
“Opening day trade was beyond our expectations with nearly 4,000 customers through the doors and retailers very positive about their sales performance,” said Jennifer Ellis, Centre Manager.
It is the largest new retail project of its kind dominating the Sunshine Coast and features retail showrooms from Australia’s leading homemaker retailers on one convenient level.
Anchor tenants include: Harvey Norman, Harvey Norman Big Buys, Domayne (first store on Sunshine Coast), Nick Scali (first store on Sunshine Coast), and Joyce Mayne.
The retail mix also includes: Next Byte, The Outdoor Furniture Specialists, HomeArt, Rugs A Million, Dollar Tree, Sleepy’s, Global Living Furniture, Plush and Good Life Health Club.
The centre features retail showrooms totaling in excess of 32,785sq m, 5,000sq m of premium first floor commercial space, 900 undercover parking spaces and lift access.
Developed by Harvey Norman, the $130 million development commenced construction in April 2011 and has been completed in line with schedule by construction company ADCO.
The landmark project has had a very positive impact on the local economy, with between 250 and 300 contractors having worked on site throughout the construction phase.
The construction project involved the pouring of approximately 45,000 cubic metres of concrete; over 1000 tonnes of structural steel and over 200km of electrical cabling that would span the distance from the Sunshine Coast to Surfers Paradise.
The new Maroochydore Homemaker Centre is an exciting addition to the rapidly maturing Maroochy Boulevard precinct, easily accessed just off the Sunshine Motorway.
It is strategically positioned at the gateway to the Maroochydore CBD with the precinct already home to showpiece auto dealerships for Mercedes Benz, Lexus and Mazda and is the site for the exciting new Emporio mixed-use development.
The Maroochydore Homemaker Centre will be managed by national specialists retail services McKenzie Hall.
