State LNP Member for Caloundra and Queensland Minister for Energy and Water Supply Mark McArdle has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In a statement issued this evening Mr McArdle said.
“As from 25 July I will be taking six weeks medical leave from my role as Minister for Energy and Water Supply.
“Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I now need to undergo medical treatment and I have been assured I will make a full recovery.
“My wife Judy and I are very pleased with the treatment plan and the care I have received to date.
“I am grateful that my Ministerial colleague Andrew Cripps has graciously agreed to take on my Ministerial duties, until I return in early September.
“I am extremely thankful for the support from all of my colleagues during the past few months and I look forward to continuing the reform work in my portfolio upon my return.”
Mr McArdle stated that the cancer was detected as part of an annual health check and is encouraging men have similar regular checks.
