Making music, Marimbafest

Make the instruments that make the music

This weekend the annual MarimbaFest will once again take place at Crystal Waters Eco Village just outside Maleny. This year the festival was funded by RADF to host marimba making workshops so if you’ve ever wanted to learn to make a marimba, now is your chance!
Maleny’s resident instrument maker Steve Langton will be facilitating these workshops plus there will be the usual workshops in how to play marimba. A variety of workshops will be on offer for kids, adults, beginners and experienced players. A number of instruments will be available for people to play so participants do not need their own marimbas.
On Saturday night will be a big marimba jam (free) and on Sunday there will be a free concert on the deck at Crystal Waters to launch K-Karimba’s new CD.
Come along for one workshop or stay for the whole weekend! Camping is available and delicious food will be available to buy. For more info contact Fatima on fatiland@gmail.com or phone 0438 328 782. Forms can be downloaded from www.jambezimusic.com
