Caloundra Christian College will transform its classrooms into a dining hall for the Prep Information Night dinner for parents.
It’s the first time the Information Night will take the format of a sit down two-course meal, enabling the parents to learn about the transition for their children from Kindy to Prep, while providing a chance to mix socially. Around 30 people are expected to attend.
“Around the walls and the ceilings will be all the art work of the Prep students,” said Head of Primary School Brian Megson.
“We’re making use of our college because we have the hospitality teacher and the hospitality students who will provide the meals.”
Mr Megson said the College wanted to highlight the fact that it is a K-12 school, providing education from kindergarten through to senior.
“These times are very emotional times for families as Prep goes to five days a week and full days,” he said.
“It’s important for us to reassure them that all the safety and security in Kindy runs into the rest of the college, including Prep.”
“It’s a great opportunity for fellowship and sharing; we have invited some of our parents who have been through Kindy and Prep to tell their stories, rather than just the teachers.”
