Stages 3 and 4 of the Maroochydore Lions Park Landscape Concept Plan have commenced and are scheduled to be completed in September (weather permitting).
Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said the major park revitalisation would leave the popular community park almost unrecognisable to regular park visitors.
“The aim of this major park revamp – which is well overdue – is to provide the community a special place to be enjoyed, by the Eudlo Creek foreshore,” Cr Hungerford said.
“The Stage 1 upgrade commenced last year and the current stages of works will complement the recently completed installation of three new park shelters around the playground, turf renovation and a new pedestrian footpath.
“The landscape concept plan was shaped in consultation with the local community and I am confident they will be very excited with these new changes in store.”
Stage 3 and 4 works will focus on the southern end of the park and will include:
- an additional 36 car parking bays
- an additional seven bays for boat trailer parking.
- a new park shelter with barbeques and park furniture
- shade tree planting and garden beds
- new shared cycle and pedestrian paths.
Cr Hungerford said traffic management measures would be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists during construction.
“Council appreciates your patience while construction works are underway,” Cr Hungerford said.
