Locals reiterate dissatisfaction with Bruce upgrade plan

Peter Slipper addresses the Bruce Highway Upgrade forum

Local residents and business owners braved the wet weather and forewent their Sunday evening to attend the second forum on the planned upgrade of the Bruce Highway.
The forum was organised by now declared independent Federal Member for Fisher, Peter Slipper. Over 120 people heard from Peter Slipper, representatives of local council, David Thompson from Aussie World, Mike Doroshenko from Sippy Downs Community Association and a pre-recorded message from the federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese. Representatives from the TMR were absent despite having received an invitation.
Peter Slipper has received commitments for face to face meetings from both the State Minister Craig Wallace and Federal Minister Albanese to hear the community concerns over the project in its current form, concerns voiced at this and the earlier forum at Sippy Downs.
Foremost the meeting proposed that Peter Slipper seek an undertaking for the maintenance of the five nominated on/off ramps and that a written commitment be given to that effect. The meeting participants impressed upon Peter Slipper the importance of these on/off ramps to residents, visitors and the viability of local businesses.
Information regarding the upgrade can be found from the TMR web site.
Information on the upgraged is  also available from the  Sippy Downs Community Association website.
