Excitement is mounting for this Friday’s biggest night-time family event, the annual Coolum State School Carnival.
This year’s 15th annual night-time event has again attracted the outstanding support of local businesses and far from being just a ‘school community’ event, has long drawn the attention of the entire region with huge crowds again expected to descend on the school for their fairground fix.
What once a day time event and visited mainly by parents and children attending the school, the change to an evening format has seen the annual Coolum Carnival become known as one of the area’s leading community celebrations.
The entire school community has pitched in to help and, along with all the fun of a sideshow alley comparable to any Brisbane Show, crowd favourite ‘Pig Brother’ returns with a vengeance and will be joined by popular favourites Pluck-A Duck, Pick Your Nose and the Bottle Stall.
There’ll also be show bags, food and drink stalls, the petting zoo, entertainment – plus the new Pedal Cars, Whack-a-Toad and Bubble Blaster attractions.
But, perhaps the best Carnival experience of all will be the final moments when a brilliant fireworks display, sponsored by Coolum Park Shopping Centre, signals a close to the evening at 8.30pm.
“The Carnival is very fortunate to have again received fantastic support from the many and varied businesses in the local community,” commented Coolum State School Principal Pat Cavanagh.
“Their on-going support is much appreciated and ensures a successful event for all sectors of the community.
“Funds from this year’s event will go towards putting wireless technology right through the school thus taking the school further into the digital age.”
Gates open 3:30pm, Friday 26 October at Coolum Primary School.
