Council is developing seven industry and investment plans for the region’s high value industries, and now is your chance to comment on a draft plan for the cleantech sector.
Portfolio councillor for new and emerging industries, Steve Robinson, said the plan would provide a long term vision for the cleantech industry on the Sunshine Coast.
“This plan is a significant part of the Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Strategy, and council is asking the community for input on how they want to see the clean technology industry progress,” Councillor Robinson said.
“The final plan will guide council, its partners and the cleantech industry on investment and industry development opportunities to help build a sustainable economy on the Sunshine Coast.
“Clean technology is also essential in helping the Sunshine Coast become Australia’s most sustainable region.
“The industry includes eco-friendly designs and building materials, energy efficiency, environmental services, water and waste management, and clean energy sources such as solar power.”
You can attend one of two workshops to learn more about the draft plan and have your say.
Session 1: June 12, 2014 (5.30-7pm)
Council Corporate Training Room, Fred Murray Building, Currie Street, Nambour (Next to Nambour Library)
Session 2: June 19, 2014 (5.30-7.30pm)
Lake Kawana Community Centre, 114 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina
Visit council’s website for details, to view the draft plan and provide feedback. Submissions close at 5pm Tuesday July 15.
Council developed the draft plan with input from a cleantech industry taskforce, which includes leaders from cleantech sectors across the Sunshine Coast. The final plan will be presented to council for adoption in late 2014.
