Students at Sunshine Coast Grammar School will have the pleasure of playing on their newly upgraded oval in 2014 with play set to commence from March.
The school’s main sports oval has recently undergone a major transformation bringing it into line with national standards, making it one of the best ovals in the region.
To allow the increase in the size of the oval, the field has been slightly rotated to accommodate its new dimensions.  The centre of the field has been raised by 850mm with falls to all four sides to assist with water run-off and extensive underground irrigation and drainage has also been installed.
“The oval upgrade is an extremely exciting initiative for students and staff and allows us to continue to deliver and enhance our physical education and co-curricular sporting programs”, said Principal, Mrs Maria Woods.
“Having a first class facility will mean less training and playing time is lost to wet weather for a range of sports and our HPE curriculum”, she said.
The oval upgrade will allow the school to continue to host premier schools from around Australia and internationally, with the playing surface now matching the quality of the games played.
“This wonderful project coincides with another milestone at Grammar with the school celebrating 18 years in 2014,” said Mrs Woods.
We would like to warmly acknowledge the support from the Grammar Community and the services and supplies provided by CT Lawns, Contour Consulting Engineers, Shadforths Civil Contractors and Universal Cranes who have been hard at work over the Christmas School holidays to deliver this project.
