Sunshine Coast Grammar School Principal, Mrs Maria Woods has taken out the 2014 Outstanding Business Person of the Year at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards over the weekend. This achievement follows hot on the heels of her win in the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network Awards in August, where she was named 2014 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year.
Judges in this year’s Sunshine Coast Business Awards commended Mrs Woods for her inspiring leadership and passion.  Having only taken up the position at Sunshine Coast Grammar a little over two years, she has been a tremendous ambassador and inspiration for others wanting follow in her footsteps.
Mrs Woods says that winning the coveted Outstanding Business Person of the Year award on the back of the 2014 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year has been surreal and hopes that these achievements will allow her to continue to make a difference in the community and to support and inspire others.
“I am honoured to have won these awards and thank the community for their support, I look forward sharing this success with others by inspiring them to find their passion and realise their full potential,” said Mrs Woods.
Before joining Sunshine Coast Grammar, Mrs Woods was Deputy Principal at Cannon Hill Anglican College in Brisbane. She won a Griffith University professional development scholarship in 2011 to undertake a Doctorate in Philosophy and is a member of the Australian College of Education and Australian Institute of Company Directors.
A very worthy winner and role model for other business men and woman in the community, Mrs Woods has made presentations at various conferences and events on leadership and innovation, as well as her own educational fields – drama and the arts.
A prominent event on the business calendar, the Sunshine Coast Business Awards evening showcased the numerous achievements of businesses across the Sunshine Coast from a diverse range of industries with twenty-seven awards presented across individual, small and large business as well as special categories.
