Five Sunshine Coast volunteer and community groups will share in $20,503 in local funding from the Queensland Government to help buy essential equipment to continue their good work helping others.
Communities Minister Tracy Davis said this first round of the $4 million Caring for our Community grants program was delivering on a Newman Government election promise.
“The Caring for our Community program is all about lending a helping hand to our hard working community organisations and their volunteers, and recognising the invaluable contribution that they make to the Nicklin community,” Ms Davis said.
“These grants provide a fantastic opportunity to improve community facilities and upgrade resources, whether it is a printer, computer or a fridge.
“A small boost like this can go a long way for our community groups and their volunteers.”
Ms Davis said supporting community groups was a Queensland Government priority.
“I am confident that these Caring for our Community grants will help these local organisations across the state continue on with their good work, delivering benefits to even more Queenslanders,” she said.
“The Caring for Our Community program is one of our commitments to the people of Queensland and the Newman Government is proud to be delivering on our promise to support our communities.”
