The countdown has started and beaches around Australia will soon be invaded by VEGEMITE SurfGroms.
Only three more days remain before the on-beach program launch on Saturday of Surfing Australia’s national junior development program VEGEMITE SurfGroms.
The first program of its type available anywhere in the world, VEGEMITE SurfGroms will offer youngsters aged 5-12 years old an opportunity to develop strong ocean awareness and beach safety skills, while also developing a proficiency in surfing.
Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark said the program will be available throughout summer through the Surfing Australia Surf Schools Network with more than 60 delivery centres around the country.
“Surfing Australia is extremely proud to be able to offer the Vegemite SurfGroms program which will give our youngsters crucial surf and beach safety skills,” Stark said.
“They will also be given the opportunity to develop surfing skills in a fun and healthy environment with their friends, which they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.”
Vegemite SurfGroms will be supported by an extensive and robust website – www.surfgroms.com – which will allow all children and parents to register for a safe and secure social network called the GromRoom. It will allow participants to share their favourite SurfGroms moments with family and friends.
Parents can still register their children through the website with programs held over summer at their closest beach.
With VEGEMITE as naming rights sponsor, SurfGroms is also backed by surf industry leader QUIKSILVER, iconic beach toy brand WAHU and leading communications company TELSTRA as support sponsors.
Australia’s most comprehensive coastal reference site COASTALWATCH and associated magazine SURFING WORLD complete the program’s support sponsors, as media partners.
Every kid signing up to VEGEMITE SurfGroms will receive an awesome QUIKSILVER backpack bursting with surfing merchandise including a QUIKSILVER t-shirt, hat, rash vest, towel and wrist band, plus two WAHU beach products and a tube of VEGEMITE Spread.
