Caribbean Dreams Coolum Beach is celebrating their fourth anniversary by once again hosting the ‘birthday party of the year’, with thousands of free ice-cream scoops on offer this Saturday 1 June, 1pm to 4pm.
The annual birthday celebration has become a favourite amongst locals and the best way for owners Duncan and Emma Jones to say thank you to their supporters.
A ton of ice cream is being prepared for the day with the crew hoping to double their fundraising efforts and beat their record 1500 free scoops.
“It’s a great feeling to give back to the community and Emma and I just love holding this event every year. Nothing puts a bigger smile on someone than ice cream – it’s that simple; and the smiles are even bigger when it’s free,” Owner Duncan Jones said.
The day also raises funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with voluntary gold coin donations topping $1000 each previous year.
“We really want to try and double the amount of money we raised last year. Every cent collected will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help them grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Duncan.
Chicken George and the lovely Sharon Brooks will once again add their rich Caribbean groove to the colourful event with live music all afternoon.
There’ll be face painting, balloons, a visit by Flossy the Make-A-Wish Fairy, a huge ice cream birthday cake, and an ice-cream eating competition; all to add to the day’s excitement.
“We are so grateful for the support we have received from Duncan and Emma over the past few years. They are true community heroes and we love coming along and helping out at their anniversary celebrations each year,” Suzie from the Make-A-Wish Foundation said.
“It’s such a fun event and it’s all about making people happy; which is exactly our aim at Make-A-Wish Foundation. We encourage everyone to come down and join the fun and help raise money to grant cherished wishes to children.”
The flavour-filled event starts at 1pm this Saturday 1st June at Caribbean Dreams, The Esplanade Coolum, with uniquely crafted favorites, including Mars Bars, Pavlova and Extreme Choc, expected to be ‘scooped up’ by the thousands over three exciting hours.
Caribbean Dreams Ice Cream is owned by popular locals Duncan and Emma Jones, who opened the Coolum store 2.5 years ago as a second branch to their popular Peregian-based ice-creamery, which opened in 2009.
Along with the highly successful Caribbean Dreams store, the couple has built Five Ounce Ice Cream Co., which wholesales boutique ice cream flavours to several of the coast’s large eateries, as well as many national outlets.
Caribbean Dreams Ice Cream has built a solid reputation as ‘the best on the coast’ and is renowned for its quality ice cream, sorbets and uniquely designed ice cream cakes.
Every scoop in the popular beachside store is hand-made locally, using only fresh local milk and the finest ingredients. All ice cream is 95% fat free, while the sorbets are 100% fat free – and are free from artificial colours and flavours.
