The Lions Club of Maleny Blackall Range would like to thank the community for their support in raising in excess of $2000 at our fund raising movie night ‘The Back of Beyond’.
In particular we would like to thank the volunteers at the Information Kiosk in Maleny and Network Video for their help in selling 154 tickets and the Maleny Post Office and Library who displayed the historical literature and Camel Bell.  A big thankyou also to all local businesses and the media who helped to promote the event.
Renee Jones (photograph), who is this year’s Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club entrant in the Lions Medical Research Foundation Personality Quest, and Ralph Ding, a cousin of the original owner of the mail run (Harry Ding), opened the evening and a delicious supper, including billy tea and damper, was enjoyed by all at the interval.  Proceeds of the evening will go toward research carried out at the Princess Alexandra, RBH and Womens Hospital and the Mater Hospital.
If anyone in the community is interested in learning more about Lions or would like to attend a dinner meeting please contact the Secretary Clarke Alexander on 5494 4981 or email clarkealexander@optusnet.com.au
