Sunshine Coast author Kaylene Donohue has shared her very personal tale through her new book “The Continuing Ripples of Living Beyond Suicide”.
Mrs Donohue decided to share her story and the stories of others affected after she lost her first cousin, younger brother, and three of her children to suicide.
Caloundra MP Mark McArdle joined Mrs Donohue to help launch her book this morning (Friday April 5) at the Caloundra Library.
‘’I’m honoured to be launching Kaylene’s second novel,’’ Mr McArdle said.
‘’This is a very important topic and we must break through the stigma attached to suicide.
‘’This book highlights the stories and feelings of those who are left behind, how they have struggled and eventually learned to move on.’’
Mrs Donahue said she hoped that others will find support in her words.
‘’My life has been touched so many times by the tragedy of suicide that I felt compelled to try and help others pick up the pieces and move on with their lives by writing this book,’’ said Mrs Donahue.
Kaylene will be donating part of the proceeds of her book to local charity, SunnyKids.
SunnyKids is a children’s charity providing early intervention programs to young people that help to build resilience and courage in our next generation so they can flourish even in challenging times.
