Australia Day world record attempt at Mooloolaba Beach

Will you be part of the Havaianas thong challenge? Be there on Australia Day and help Nippers in the process.

Australia’s favourite summer event will be back at Mooloolaba next Australia Day, where participants will once again band together in an attempt to set a new world record for the longest line of giant inflatable Havaianas joined in the water. Now in it’s eighth year the Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge continues to raise funds for the Nippers, with a total of $52,260 raised in 2012.
The popular event is synonymous with Australia Day, and creates a unique sight across each state’s most prominent beaches simultaneously. The friendly but feisty spirit of Australia is present across the entire country, as family members from every generation join together to be a part of Australia’s number one summer event.
Queenslanders are encouraged to get competitive and join in the fun on January 26th, and take part in a world record attempt. What better way is there to spend a fun fuelled family Australia Day than together on Mooloolaba Beach!!
Cottesloe (WA) took out the challenge in 2012 and beat neighbouring states, setting a new world record of 2,088 people. Will 2013 be Mooloolaba’s year? Keeping spirits high and motivating the QLD contingent will be local surfing identity Grant Thomas, who will act as event MC on the day.
Registration costs just $25.00 and participants receive a giant inflatable Havaianas (valued @ $49.95). There will be a limited number of registrations available on the day for $30.00.
