Trash Your Wedding Dress in the name of Charity

Maleny Dairies General Manager, Kay Hollyoak is going for a World Record! Kay wants to see how many people she can get in one place at one time, to trash their wedding dresses – and it’s all in the name of charity! ‘The level of trash is up to you,’ says Kay. ‘It’s always good to have a load of fun while you’re doing something worthwhile for the community. As a family business, we’re really focused on providing the best for our own kids so we chose to support SunnyKids – a local Sunshine Coast charity helping disadvantaged children and young people on the Sunshine Coast.’
‘We just want to help all kids be the best that they can be and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. If we can help SunnyKids achieve that goal, then the efforts are worth it,’ says Kay.
The Trash the Wedding Dress fundraiser will be held at Maleny Dairies on Sunday October 21, 2012. You’ll have a chance to capture your trashing moment with a professional photo. Waterslides, dams and cow paddocks will feature highly as preferred methods!
Chris Turner, CEO SunnyKids smiles as he considers the day. ‘Well, we’ve never been involved in an event that’s so innovative! What an exciting way to engage the community in fundraising to help our kids break the cycle of disadvantage. I’m not sure you’ll be seeing me in a wedding dress,’ jokes Chris, ‘but the potential for some great fun for a serious cause is huge. We’re looking forward to spreading the word and getting people involved!’
So, grab some friends, put on a wedding dress and have the time of your life. If you don’t want to trash your own dress, make one or get one from an op shop! Fabulous prizes available to the best bride in each category plus loads of lucky door prizes.
