Residents and motorists in Alexandra Headland will soon have a safer street thanks to traffic calming measures installed by Sunshine Coast Council.
Division 4 Councillor Chris Thompson said the works would be carried out in Mayfield Street after concerns were raised by local residents.
“Council listened to the concerns of people living in Mayfield Street regarding vehicle speeds and we engaged in a comprehensive consultation process to ensure that traffic calming devices were installed in the problem areas and didn’t compromise property access,” he said.
“The traffic calming works will be installed at the intersection of Juan and Edwards Streets and they’ve been designed to encourage safer vehicle speeds and improve safety for pedestrians and other road users.”
Some minor landscaping works will be included in the works that will start in late August and are expected to be complete within four weeks (weather dependent).
Traffic management measures will be in place while works are in progress to ensure the safety of pedestrian and motorists.
