Tough preseason to include international

30th Nov, 2011 by Charles Hodgson View News

The Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles have today announced a gruelling preseason schedule designed to test the mettle of the new look squad.
The Sea Eagles will play three games during February, including a trip to New Zealand to play the Warriors.
“We really want to hit the ground running and with the teams we are playing we will be more than ready for the start of the season in March.” said Sea Eagles coach David Cordwell.
“We initially had two games locked in but Redcliffe needed a game so we’ve taken that as well. I want to see the players in action and I think we will be better with time so let’s get out there and play some footy.”
The Sea Eagles will host Redcliffe in three grades on February 11, at a venue to be decided. The following weekend a squad will travel to Whangarei (Pronounced: Fanga’ray) to play the Warriors, while the remaining players will take on Ipswich in 3 grades. The preseason will wrap up with three grades playing Norths in Brisbane.
Confirmation that the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles will take on the beaten 2011 NRL grand finalists at Toll Stadium on Saturday, February 18 (5.00pm kick-off) will provide a massive opportunity for the young squad.
The trial will be the last before the Vodafone Warriors ignite their 2012 season against 2011 premiers the Manly Sea Eagles at Eden Park on the weekend of March 1-5.
Preseason details:
Feb 11: V Redcliffe (Colts, FOGS A Grade, QCup) Sunshine Coast, Venue TBA.
Feb 18: V Warriors (QCup) Toll Stadium, Whangarei NZ.
V Ipswich (Colts, FOGS A Grade, QCup) Sunshine Coast, Quad Park.
Feb 25: V Norths (Colts, FOGS A Grade, QCup) Bishop Park, Brisbane.
