SunnyKids is proud to announce support from our home grown IronWoman. Allira Richardson is the Mooloolaba entrant in the 2011/12 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Surf Ironman Series and the Ironwoman Series.
Allira approached SunnyKids recently with a generous offer to support at-risk children on the Coast. ‘I am passionate about the Sunshine Coast community and like SunnyKids, believe that all children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of circumstance,’ says Allira.
‘I chose SunnyKids because they’re a local charity who has been helping children in this region for over 10 years. In my spare time, I’m keen to help out as much as I can to be a role model for our kids. SunnyKids has made such a difference in the live of families on the Sunshine Coast and I’m looking forward to being able to promote their work and volunteer my time.’
Not that Allira has much spare time. The country’s best Surf Life Saving athletes compete in the most grueling ocean based competition on the planet, so the training hours are demanding.
The 2011/12 series is fought out over six rounds at iconic Australian beaches with the Coolum round on 10 February 2012. Noosa Heads round will be on 19 February 2012.
SunnyKids CEO, Chris Turner welcomes Allira as an inspiring role model for disadvantaged children. ‘SunnyKids currently provides over 11,000 nights crisis accommodation per year on the Coast, with 75% of this provided to children. Many of these children represent the third generation of their family to live in refuge. It’s important for these children to break the cycle of disadvantage. Having Allira on board to inspire and encourage kids, provides confidence that they can aspire to something better,’ says Chris.
‘We look forward to developing a strong relationship with Allira in the coming year and wish her all the best in her upcoming competitions.’
