SunnyKids calling for Color Run Volunteers

16th Aug, 2013 by View News

SunnyKids calling for Color Run Volunteers
SunnyKids, a local children’s charity is thrilled to be working with The Swisse Color Run and Sunshine Coast Council to deliver the inaugural Sunshine Coast event on Sunday October 13.
As the colour hits the Coast, SunnyKids is asking the community to pull together to help local kids. Chris Turner, CEO of SunnyKids says, “We are proud to partner with The Swisse Color Run and Sunshine Coast Council to put the ‘fun’ back into ‘fun run’ AND bring the whole community together to change kids lives!’
‘We need community support to do this though, and ask that you consider either participating or volunteering for the event. As a volunteer on the day, you’ll get to be a part of a great team dedicated to making the experience colourful for everyone! As a participant, you can get your friends and family to sponsor you through the Everyday Hero website at www.everydayhero.com.au/event/colorrun- sunnycoast to help raise money for disadvantaged kids.’
By pulling together as a community, you will be helping to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and disadvantage. You will be helping SunnyKids continue to provide the hope and resilience necessary to move forward, both as individuals and as a society – accommodating families in crisis and delivering resilience-building materials to schools nationwide.
The event will be staged at the Sunshine Coast Council’s premier sport and recreation facility, Stockland Park at Kawana Waters, transforming it into the home of the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet’.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said The Swisse Color Run is a welcomed addition to the Coast’s impressive sporting calendar. “Stockland Park has a superb reputation for hosting high profile events – but none have been as colourful as this event promises to be. We are fortunate to have such a great facility to attract these types of global events,” Mr Jamieson said.
The Color Run Australia National Manager Luke Hannan said, “We’re thrilled to be bringing The Swisse Color Run to the Sunshine Coast – we hope that locals will get on board and really immerse themselves in the colour and high energy of the event. From little ones, mums and dads right through to grandparents – we can’t wait to see all the Color Runners come together on the Sunshine Coast.”
The Swisse Color Run is a commercial venture which chooses to support charity. Each run around the country partners with an official event charity – on the Sunshine Coast, it’s SunnyKids.
SunnyKids has the opportunity to raise funds through the Everday Hero platform, and will also receive a donation from event owners in exchange for the provision of volunteers.
Available from www.theswissecolorrun.com.au, entries are now on sale for individuals and groups, with kids under five participating for free.
Volunteer enquiries should be directed to Michelle Buth at SunnyKids on 5479 0394
