Quota Park in Nambour will have a new shade structure soon thanks to Sunshine Coast Council’s capital works program.
Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said Quota Park has one of the best playgrounds for kids on the Sunshine Coast and now it’s going to be even better.
“A new shade structure will be constructed to provide maximum shade during the hottest times of the day,” Cr Rogerson said.
“There are two sections in the playground – a play area for big kids and a play area for little kids.
“The new shade structure will be installed over the big kids play area.
“It’s a large arched beam shade structure designed to match existing play elements.
“Work is due to start at the end of August and is expected to take ten days to complete (depending on the weather).
“The entire playground will be temporarily closed for up to two days while a large steel arched beam and supporting posts are installed.”
Once the beam and posts are in place the little kids play area will be re-opened.
The total cost of the shade structure is $40,000 and is funded by council’s capital works program for parks.
