Mums and Dads have got a healthy and popular option to keep their kids busy and entertained over the coming school holidays, thanks to a Bligh Government initiative.
Sport Minister Phil Reeves said children between the ages of five and 15 can look forward to exciting holiday adventure programs on the Sunshine Coast during the upcoming Christmas holiday break.
“Six programs will be offered over a two week period at the Currimundi Active Recreation Centre starting 9 January 2012,” Mr Reeves said.
“This is a great opportunity for children to socialise with other kids and participate in fully supervised, instructor-led outdoor activities at a beachside location.
“In previous years, the holiday adventure programs have proven to be highly popular, with activities including beach games, sand sculpting, surfing, pool games, and kite building.
“The cost of attending the programs is less than $50 per day with all meals included and families who enrol more than one child receive a discounted rate.
“The Bligh Government is committed to encouraging more children to get active and our holiday adventure programs are the perfect way to keep kids happy and healthy this summer.
“Under our Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland initiative, we want to help Queenslanders become Australia’s healthiest people by reducing obesity levels by one third by 2020.
“This is why we continue to provide support for programs, projects and facilities which help people of all ages participate in sport and active recreation.
“I encourage parents, especially those who may need to work right through the school holidays, to enrol their children and take advantage of this fun activity program.”
Registration opens on 21 November and closes on 22 December, and families should enroll as early as possible in one or more of the following programs:

5 Day Program 3 Day Program 2 Day Program
