Sunshine Coast Council’s Development Indicators Report provides an in-depth look into development activity on the Coast.
Director Development Services Julie Edwards said the recently released Development Indicators Report includes a comprehensive full year summary of development activity on the Sunshine Coast in 2011.
“The report profiles the volume of development and contains information on town planning, subdivision, building and construction activity,” Ms Edwards said.
“The total number of development applications lodged in 2011 was 12,413.”
The various types of development applications that council receives and assesses include reconfiguring lots, material change of use, operational works, plans for subdivision, plumbing and regulatory building applications.
Ms Edwards said building application figures for construction on the Coast have an estimated value $1,066 billion.
“The 2011 building application figure for construction indicates that estimated investment in construction has remained strong compared to $749 million in 2009 and $1,090 billion in 2010,” she said.
Council’s processing time for decisions on development applications for reconfiguration of lots, material change of use and operational works show that 80% of applications are decided within 40 business days.
“It’s a great result from our Regional Strategy and Planning team and it’s great news for our customers who are always pleased to get a quick response on their application,” Ms Edwards said.
