Crossing the road at the intersection of Tindale Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Buderim will soon be safer and easier.
Sunshine Coast Council is set to build out the pedestrian kerb and add ramps for better pedestrian access on the south-west corner near the Buderim Bowls Club.
Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said ramps will also be constructed on the adjacent kerbs.
“Council is committed to increasing pathway networks and pedestrian connectivity across the region and this project will certainly achieve that objective,” he said.
“This particular intersection is located near the Buderim Mountain State School and has high numbers of school children and parents crossing the road, so providing an easier and safer crossing is fantastic.
“Council will endeavour to avoid any disturbance to large and established trees while performing these works, that will be carried out during the Easter school holidays.”
During construction nearby property access may be affected for short durations. Council officers will contact residents, where relevant, to discuss timing for access or parking if work is likely to block entrances.
