Over a hundred local residents are expected to discuss public transport in Kawana tomorrow night at a local community forum hosted by local MP, Jarrod Bleijie.
Mr Bleijie has organised the forum and invited Shadow Minister for Transport Scott Emerson MP to attend and speak with local residents.
“This is an opportunity to discuss any current issues that we have, and also plan for the future growth of the area,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Major infrastructure projects and residential developments will see Kawana become the growth hub of the Coast over the next decade.
“Public transport will be a vital element of the plan to move people around the Kawana community.
“To overcome possible traffic congestion, we need to plan for the future.
“No one is going to throw away their car keys and use public transport, if governments don’t provide services that will encourage people to use them.
“Planning for the future service needs of our community is so important.
“You can educate people on the benefits of public transport as much as you like, unless the services offered are affordable and convenient, they won’t be used.
“Some parts of our community, such as Kawana Forest, don’t even have bus services,” Mr Bleijie said.
