Sunshine Coast Council today completed the contemporary new toilet block alongside the Maroochy Surf Club car park in time for the busy Easter period.
Division 8 Councillor Jason OPray said the new facility replaced an old toilet block and provided numerous environmental and functional improvements.
“The old toilet building at Maroochydore Beach was beyond its economic life and was assessed as being unable to be renovated to provide the standard required by council,” he said.
“The old facility was demolished and has been replaced with a new larger and more modern amenity building that offers the community a safe facility with interior spaces that maximise natural light and ventilation.
“Building construction has also been designed to minimise maintenance costs, maximise energy savings and reduce water consumption via the utilization of rainwater harvesting tanks and water efficient tap fittings.
“This attractive, architecturally designed modern building features materials and finishes which enhance the overall appeal in this prime location.”
The new facility has absolute consideration for people with disabilities including compliant access, showers and toilets.
