JUNKIT for the school holidays

2nd September 2012 by View News

Children visiting Eumundi Markets over the school holidays will also have the opportunity to get creative and learn about the importance of recycling with ‘JUNKIT’ craft workshops.

The JUNKIT workshops will be presented by artist Rene McGovern (TTCreator) and will take place on Saturday 22 September, Wednesday 26 September, Wednesday 3 October and Saturday 6 October.

“Kids will learn how to make fabulous treasures from reclaimed materials,” says Rene.

“We’ll be making gaffa tape roses, trinket safety pin brooches and gift cards.”

The cost is $5 per participant, and there is no pre-booking (pay on the day). While the workshops are designed for children five years and over, big kids (teenagers + adults) are welcome – if spaces permit.

Saturday 29 September sees the market’s annual health and wellbeing day – ‘All Well & Good’.

Market Manager Peter Homan says All Well & Good is a day to learn more about what you can do for yourself and your family when it comes to health, fitness and general wellbeing.

“Visitors will be able to learn from presentations and displays from community organisations, sporting clubs, health and eco groups across the Coast”, Peter says.

“You’ll discover everything from yoga, meditation, tai chi and gong therapy, to karate, badminton, wrestling, dance and chess – and a whole lot more.”

“And to keep kids active on the day, we’ll have a FREE rock climbing wall and FREE bungee trampoline”, he says.

“Queensland Health will be providing free Pit Stop Health Checks, and to ensure the positive happy vibes are flowing, we’ll have the Hug Patrol sharing their ‘free hugs’ and Let’s Laugh sharing the goodness of laughter therapy.

The day will see cooking demonstrations from some of the most passionate chefs and foodies on the Coast – highlighting food that’s good for your soul using fresh seasonal produce, bush foods and organics.

Visitors can also join the All Well & Good Trail through the markets and learn from wellness oriented stalls including herbal medicines, natural skincare, Ayurvedic medicine, naturopathy, massage, reiki, spiritual and energy healing.

Customers who spend $10 on the day at stalls on the Trail will go in the draw to win an All Well & Good hamper bursting with health and wellness products from Eumundi Markets.

The event runs 8am – 2pm throughout the Original Eumundi Markets site in the centre of town, Eumundi.

Set against the backdrop of Australia’s premier craft market, there will also be the usual incredible range of handmade and handcrafted giftware, furniture, jewellery, art, fashion and food.
