Council’s festive season program runs from December to January and includes Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Australia Day celebrations.
Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the importance of festive season celebrations and to understand if community expectation is being met.
“The Sunshine Coast Festive Season Strategy outlines council’s role and level of support for community-based celebrations and region-wide events held each year during the festive season,” Cr McKay said.
“This strategy was originally developed based on extensive community feedback received before and after festive season events held in December 2009 and January 2010, plus surveys conducted from June until August 2010.
“In 2011/2012, council invested almost $1m into festive season activities in the region which included direct funding of a number of celebrations, activities and events.
“We also provide advice, guidance and grants to community groups to help with the staging of local festive events.
“We now need residents to tell us if council’s efforts and resourcing in this important area of community connectedness and celebration matches what they expect from their council by completing a short online survey.
“The feedback received from the community will be used to help council plan future festive season celebrations.“
Everyone who completes the survey has the opportunity to go into the draw to win two adult season tickets to the 2012 Caloundra Music Festival. Those without access to a computer are encouraged to visit their local library and make use of the free computers available.
Survey responses are anonymous, however to enter the prize draw, name and contact details will be requested. These details will be kept separately from the survey data to ensure council’s privacy conditions are met. The survey and competition close at 5pm on Friday 10 August 2012.
