Three local Sunshine Coast ladies will be teaming up with a select group of adventure seekers from across the country next September to take on Africa’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro, in support of Make A Wish Australia to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The expedition will see the ladies climb 5,895 metres to the Roof of Africa over 7 days trekking via the Machame Route, which is by far the most scenic albeit steeper route up the mountain, across some of the roughest terrain in below zero temperatures to reach the summit.
An adventure of a life time for this daring trio of local business women, Debbie Ladd, Megan Meineke and Sandra Barrett will be taking on this challenge together for the first time to help raise funds and make a real difference to the lives of others.
“We are incredibly excited to be a part of this adventure and for the opportunity to support such a worthy cause,” said Megan Meineke
“I am sure there will be much anticipation and trepidation in the lead up and while there is undoubtedly much to look forward to, the next nine months will be very busy with a full schedule of fundraising initiatives, training walks and preparation ahead of the big adventure.”
All funds raised from this Charity Challenge will go towards Make a Wish Australia who grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The ladies will host their first fundraising event at the Maroochydore Cinemas on Friday, November 23 with the screening of the James Bond Sky Fall Premier, tickets are available online http://www.trybooking.com/CAXV or by contacting Megan Meineke 0413 033 017.
