The Years 5 and 6s at Caloundra Christian College have had an awesome time this week, at camp at Tallebudgera.
Every year for the past eight years, the children have headed to the Gold Coast for a week of team-building challenges and fun activities. From surfing to rockclimbing, fencing with swords to sandcastle competitions, high ropes challenges to a day at Dreamworld, the camp has been jam-packed full of fun and excitement.
Mrs Jenny Venier, the Caloundra Christian College Primary Teacher Aide, has been planning these camps since their beginning eight years ago.
“It’s a little bit like my own personal Groundhog Day, but better,” she said. “Each time, I get to tweak it here, and improve it there – and it gets better and better each year. This year, I have been so proud of these kids. In the High Ropes challenge, for example, one of the boys was so scared to do it, but he climbed up the ladder and walked along a narrow beam three metres off the ground. I couldn’t have been prouder if it was one of my own children!” she said.
“Next year, we might do bodyboarding and head to Movie World instead.”
