The Olympic Games has been a perfect motivator for students at the Caloundra Christian College interhouse athletics carnivals.
“With worldwide interest in the Olympics starting shortly, I anticipate our students would be inspired by the great athletes and their competitive performances to achieve greater results at the next level of competitive school athletics,” said Deputy Principal Andrew Priaulx.
Students from all grades were involved in the events at the school carnival, as well as a number of international students.
“Both the primary and secondary carnivals are comprehensive carnivals and included track and field events. Students are selected for representation at the District Athletics Carnivals in the coming weeks based on their individual performance in these events,” Mr Priaulx said.
“Specific to secondary are javelin and 1500m events. Other events include 100m, 200m, High Jump, discus, shot put, long jump and relays. Athletics carnivals are a great opportunity for students to demonstrate not only their sporting prowess but also the values of good sportsmanship and sporting house pride.”
“Sporting carnivals, such as the athletics days, are a great opportunity for the whole school community to join together,” he added.
The winning House for the primary carnival was Bilyara, while Pinyali won the secondary event.
