Contiki tour guides, drivers and regional representatives are renown for organising a great European holiday packed with sightseeing, culture, friendships and fun for 18-35's.

Droves of young Australians and New Zealanders will have fond memories of their Kangaroo trail through Europe as part of a Contiki tour.

So a reunion of 138 of the front line employees from one of the world's most successful travel companies and their partners in Caloundra this weekend (May 14-16) is sure to be a memorable visit.

The reunion’s local host is Murray East who worked in Europe for Contiki from 1980 -1982 and is now the manager of Centrepoint Apartments in Caloundra.

He says members of the group will travel from interstate, New Zealand and as far afield as London, Las Vegas, Denver and Los Angeles.

“Many of the people attending the reunion have not seen each other for 30 years and I am sure if we were compiling a book it would be filled with lots of anecdotes and stories about travelling around Europe that are quite hilarious,” Mr East said.

He said the visit was also great exposure for Caloundra with many of the group still working in the travel and leisure industry.

The reunion itinerary includes a Twenty20 cricket match between a Caloundra XI and the Contiki Old Crew at Henzell Park, a tour of the hinterland, golf at Pelican Waters, dinner at Cafe Mediterranean, and a trip to the Sunshine Coast races at Corbould Park.

The last major Contiki reunion was in Sydney in April, 2005.
