Rachael Bermingham bestselling author and proud mum is hosting a charity luncheon at 4th floor restaurant Mooloolaba on Friday the 19th of February to help raise awareness and help reduce child sexual assault in Australia. She is on a mission to raise much needed funds for Bravehearts Inc, Australia’s leading child protection organisation so they can employ a counsellor who can help affected children between the ages of 3 and 5 who are currently on a waiting list.

Rachael bestselling author of books Read My Lips, 4 Ingredients and How to Write Your Own Book said ‘As a VERY proud mum I have thought about the unthinkable, the UNIMAGINABLE happening to my gorgeous children, it breaks my heart that 1 in 5 children are being sexually assaulted in a country that is meant to be one of the safest places in the world to raise a family’.

‘Like most parents (I expect) I would honestly like to put my head in the sand and not think about it at all – BUT I can’t because if I do that then the reality of it happening to someone I know comes one step closer. That’s why I felt compelled to help in any way I can and that’s how the idea of this luncheon came about’ she said.

‘The statistics are frightening, 90% of children don't speak up about being assaulted for fear of not being believed. 1 in 5 parents who KNOW their children are being assaulted, DON’T speak up either, because the attacker is often a family member or a friend, which is absolutely appalling – all this does is give the paedophile a green light to do it again and again AND to someone else’s child too!’ Rachael said.

The Luncheon will be a celebration of Australian children and their innocence, guests of the luncheon will be entertained by two of Australia’s leading performers, have a laugh with one of the nations best key note speakers and mingle with some of the countries bestselling authors whilst enjoying a delicious lunch!

There will also be an array of great items up for grabs in auctions & raffles.
