Hyatt Regency Coolum Announces Opening of Six New Golf Holes
Work is now complete on an exciting new golf experience at Hyatt Regency Coolum.
After engaging the original course designer, Robert Trent Jones Jr to rejuvenate the course, six new holes have been completed and will be ready for play after the 2009 Australian PGA Championship.
Robert Trent Jones Jr’s team, RJT II, have created a layout which ensures that the integrity and quality of the new course is second to none.
The new layout includes six new holes around the resort’s Vine Forrest and removes six of the existing holes. Holes one to six, around the Vine Forrest, will includes a combination of par three, par four and par five holes that will blend with existing holes, to become the new ‘front nine’.
The back nine holes (10 to 18) remain the same, after some minor rejuvenation works.
“We believe the golf course experience will be enhanced and the addition of these new holes will increase the reputation of Hyatt Regency Coolum’s championship course,” RTJ II chief design officer Bruce Charlton said.
“We have created subtle drama, varying the length, orientation and character of the new holes so they flow together as naturally as possible in the unique landscape,” he said.
The course caters to all levels of play, from the average golfer to the world’s best players.
Mr Trent Jones Jr described the new course as a place where the natural beauty of the landscape, collides with the natural beauty of a great game.
