SECRECY surrounds the project team set up in an advisory capacity for the proposed new hospital at Kawana, according to the Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie.
Mr Bleijie said the Health Minister, Paul Lucas, had repeatedly dodged and ducked questions on the team’s make up during the past three months leading him to believe his predictions in June that the project team would be sacked were based in fact.
“I believe there have been some radical changes to the project team and as usual, they have been done under a veil of secrecy,” he said.
“In August I put a question on notice to the minister asking whether any members of the team had been sacked, made redundant, transferred or otherwise re-oriented.
“A simple question which drew a convoluted answer which basically said: “The team experiences changes from time to time”.
No further explanation.
“Recently I asked the minister who had been reoriented from the team, why had they been reoriented, to where, who was currently on the team and whether they were volunteers or paid for their services,” Mr Bleijie said.
“The answer: The team experiences changes from time to time.
No further explanation.
“This is simply not a good enough answer for the hundreds of thousands of people on the Coast who are waiting desperately for this hospital,” Mr Bleijie said.
“It demonstrates the utter contempt the Government shows for our region and it also clearly shows depth of secrecy under which they operate.”
