Sylvia Harker's Lorikeets made it to the semi-finals but were defeated by 4 games. Sylvia says well done Barbie, Vickie, Barbara, Jean, Geraldine, Margaret and Karyn.
The club's cabaret night last Saturday was a huge success. Held at the Pavilion at the Showgrounds, over a hundred enjoyed the cabaret night and the rather bawdy musical "The Sound of Balls" - a tennis club based on the music of 'The Sound of Music'. Sylvia did a fantastic job organising the night and the show, written, produced and directed by David and Helen Crewe was very funny if risqué. Also a big thank you to the Maleny Players for loaning their equipment, the cast, the Maleny Singers, the Bridge Club and the Tennis Club members who were either acting or watching. There were major contributions from helpers Brenda Simmons and Ann Harbor, the whole Harker family (Sylvia and daughter Karyn did most of the cooking. The sons in law helped in the kitchen). Narelle Joyce painted a fabulous picture of Lorikeets which was auctioned for $310 (Terry Harker got it). Charmaine from Maleny Kitchen was a great help. John Drewe from the Woodies made a couple of bedside tables for a raffle - the list of helpers was endless. Over $3000 was made on the night but more importantly, it was an excellent piece of the Maleny community doing what they do best. Having fun and sending each other up.
