The draft concept design for Marcoola’s Suncoast Boulevard Masterplan hit the shop fronts and resorts this Monday – just in time to be the hot topic of conversation at Christmas celebrations.

Division 8 councillor Debbie Blumel said she is very pleased that the Suncoast Boulevard Streetscape Revitalisation plan is now ready for community review.

Cr Blumel said, “Throughout the year, local residents and traders have worked closely with council to get a budget and then draft the concept plans in time for Christmas. It will be great timing for the non-resident unit owners too when they arrive for their holidays.

“We are aiming to have a Master Plan completed by April 2010,” Cr Blumel said.

“The draft concept design will be on display in Marcoola, Mudjimba and Pacific Paradise and online at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

Residents and traders wishing to provide feedback can do so until 15 January, by downloading a feedback form and submitting by post to:

“The North Shore Traders association are kindly helping council officers to distribute the plan around local shopping areas and resorts.

“I encourage everyone to have a say on the concept plan as this is our opportunity to shape our future.

“The plan aims to create an attractive, safe and connected coastal village centre that gives priority to pedestrians and cyclists and creates a shady beachside atmosphere.

“Council officers will collate the feedback received and use the information to inform further development of the Suncoast Boulevard streetscape design.

“Once completed, the amended plan will be distributed for one final round of public feedback and comment.

“Community priorities identified from this engagement process will inform the scope of works for Stage 1 of construction, due to start in the 2010/11 financial year,” Cr Blumel said.
