Police are advising the public of a possible safety issue after a 70 cartons of fireworks were stolen on the Sunshine Coast.
The fireworks were stolen from a secure storage facility belonging to a pyrotechnic company on the Sunshine Coast sometime between 1pm yesterday and 3.30pm today.
Each carton contained 120 ‘aerial mortars’ and police are concerned these could cause serious or fatal injuries if used by anyone other than a pyrotechnic expert.
The ‘aerial mortars’ are described as round like a cricket ball, wrapped in brown paper with a wick sticking out from the top.
Police urge anyone who may locate any of the cartons or individual ‘aerial mortars’ to not touch them and immediately call police.
