Active, healthy program expands to new areas on the Coast

7th Aug, 2012 by Charles Hodgson View News

Sunshine Coast Council today announced the launch of two new Active, healthy Sunshine Coast – every day, your way classes in Caloundra and Maroochydore to help increase the health and wellbeing of the community.
Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Active, healthy Sunshine Coast is an initiative funded by the Australian government in partnership with local organisations such as the Heart Foundation.
“It is widely recognised that having good physical and mental health improves your wellbeing and has benefits for the whole community,” Councillor McKay said.
“Due to the success of the Active, healthy Sunshine Coast Heartmoves classes in Nambour and Cooroy, we have now launched new physical activity classes in Caloundra and Maroochydore.
“Heartmoves, Lift for Life and Heart Foundation Walking programs are designed for the community to improve their fitness levels at their own pace while having fun.
“Heartmoves and Lift for Life classes were originally only open to those with a concession card but I am happy to advise they are now available for everyone to enjoy and at a very reasonable price.“
For more information about the newly launched classes and other Active, healthy Sunshine Coast programs visit council’s website or call council on 5475 7272 and say “Active, healthy Sunshine Coast”.
